Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, Marketing & Sales is responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined marketing and communications strategy, including branding, competitive positioning and pricing strategy, in a manner that supports consistent business growth and enhances brand equity and awareness. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, training and managing all marketing functions to achieve Canivate’s objectives of sales, growth, profitability, and visibility while ensuring a consistent marketing message and position consistent with the corporate direction.
The successful candidate will create Canivate’s branding strategy to leverage the Company’s unique value proposition and points of differentiation, both as a Company brand(s) and in the development and introduction of brands by the Company. The incumbent will create, manage, coordinate and execute all marketing strategies and implement tactical plans that meet and exceed company expectations, developing unique value propositions, business partnerships, category management, as well as promotion and advertising campaigns leveraging the uniqueness of the Company’s business and its brand appeal and increasing brand awareness across various marketing channels. Working with the Company’s cultivation and manufacturing teams to lead product development, the VP Marketing & Sales will identify key opportunities to develop the Company’s own brands and/or products to offer to our offtake partners. As leader of the Sales and Marketing team, coaching, mentoring and raising the team’s ability to deliver and exceed short-and long-range department goals and objectives will be an important element of the position.
We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Marketing roles with at least five years at the senior management level, coupled with a university degree in Marketing or related discipline—MBA preferred. Applicants must have knowledge of a wide range of marketing techniques and concepts, experience dealing with leading brands and, in addition to brand management, line extension/new product development experience. Proven ability to build and lead a proactive marketing organization ensuring accountability for results that maximize the contribution to business objectives is essential. Possession of a valid work visa to be able to legally work in Canada or the U.S. and a valid passport to travel internationally for company collaboration and meetings are required.
